everytime i go to log into my email,or go to gmail help, all i get are random symbols and letters. ive tried system restore, and changing internet security- but nothing works- help!

You might try, for a bit, going through a different browser. If that works, then you'd know it's something flaky about your browser settings in the first browser... Like, say, the character set (UTF-8 versus ISO versus something else) or whether you've chosen a browser setting that won't handle AJAX (which is essential for gmail and lots of other Google stuff)...or ...lots of other things that can be influenced by your browser settings. Just a thought.

I appreciate you decision on using gmail. You can easily forward all your pop3 mails to gmail with the help of email-clients like outlook/outlook express etc.





Let's see how we can do this in Outlook Express :





1. Goto menu Tools=%26gt;Message Rules =%26gt;Mails


2. Select the last check box in the "Select the Conditions for your rule" No.1 section (top)


3. Select the fourth option ("forward it to people" ) in the No.2 section (middle)


4. Click the link people in the No.3 section (bottom) and add your gmail id.


4. Give a name to your rule.





Now, all your pop3 mails will be forwarded to Gmail Account.

Go to your ISP Email box online. ?say you have hotmail. you would open your account on the web and go to option and forward your mail to gmail.





it took me about 5 minutes to find where it said click this box if you want to forward or redirect your mail and then put in your gmail address and it goes right into your gmail box.

Well, personally I was invited into it. I would think you can sign up on mail.google.com though, btw don't put www. in front of it, or it won't work. Just thought I'd add that.
Reply:It is very quirky in how Google has setup their way to sign up for Gmail. Unless they changed the process over the last few weeks, you need to use a cell phone that accepts text messages.

Select Gmail (towards the bottom of the page) and following the instructions for signing up. Somewhere through the process, you will be asked for a cell phone number and service provider. A code will be sent to the phone that you use to go through the rest of the sign-up process.





In my opinion, Yahoo Mail works better especially if you travel from computer to computer. The Yahoo personal environment has a few years development over Google's counterpart.

If you start on your GMail page, click Contacts, then import, browse for your Yahoo Contacts file and click Import.





Or you can reverse that process by starting on your Yahoo mail page and exporting those contacts to your Gmail account. The process is pretty much the same.

You could also download Ccleaner http://ccleaner.com/ and it will wipe that and also clear up unused clutter.

Not that I'm worried, because I check my e-mail obsessively, but I just got to wondering if Gmail deletes accounts if someone hasn't logged in for a period of several months. I know that for regular Yahoo Mail accounts it's something like 4 months of inactivity before an e-mail account is deleted, and there's no time limit on paid Yahoo Mail accounts, but I don't recall having read anything on Gmail and didn't see anything on the Gmail homepage. Just for the sake of curiosity, anyone know?

It is called MSN Messenger for a reason. The same as Yahoo Messenger you can't login unless you have a yahoo account.

You don't need the invitation anymore; you've already activated your account.





You could infact delete yahoo and only use gmail, but you do need a yahoo account to use it with yahoo answers.

I use Yahoo Beta and I have been having the problem of a blank screen and page not loading. tried everything i.e. cleared cache, history, turned off firewall and anti-virus etc. to no avail. I then went to an internet cafe to try logging in there, and I was able to log in right away. I immediatly switched back to the old version of Yahoo Mail. Went back home and successfully logged into my email account. With the old version currently working for me it's bye bye Beta for now. Hope this helps.

If you set your gmail to be the default that may be the problem, otherwise the 2 do not work off the same server or even services so they should not conflict with each other. What you may be experiencing is the new yahoo mail beta, and its needed adjustments to your general security settings in order to work. Its not a big thing but annoying to say the least. What you need to do is forst delete your history, temp files, and cookies...then adjust the security level to custom, scroll to scripting and enable both the applets and active scripting, then go to the privacy settings and change that to medium or medium low.

Go to gmail and set up a gmail account - it's the best of them all. Then go into gmail and set it and all of your other accounts to feed into your Outlook 2003. I can't remember exactly how I did it, but it was incredibly easy to do (took about 5 minutes in total) and intuitive - gmail did all of the work. I now use Outlook 2003 exclusively with 2 gmail accounts and 3 others and never need to login to anything but Outlook.

yes you can. Open the Settings Tab in orkut and then click on Notifications tab. At the bottom of the page you'll have a link called 'send me email to', click on the link "edit contact" written against it. Change the email id filled in there. Then a confirmation mail will be sent to your new email id, click on the link given in the email id and your email id will be changed. However whenever you log in into orkut you will have to enter your earlier id and password only.

You cannot change the username. You can delete the account and create a new one. The steps to delete the account are as follows -


a) Sign in to your Gmail account and click "Settings" at the top of the page.


b) Click "Accounts" in the "Settings" menu bar and click "Google Account settings".


c) Click the "Edit" link next to "My products".


d) Click "Delete Gmail Service" and fill in the required fields.





Once done your account will be gone.

I'm suspecting it has something to do with the Google April Fools joke involving the Custom Time prank. If the problem persists for two or more days and changing your time zone, saving, changing back and saving again doesn't fix it, check your own desktop clocks and auto syncs to make sure you're not syncing with a program that is marking time incorrectly. If all the above doesn't work send an e-mail to the respective tech supports.

1) In your PC Yahoo Messenger, in the file menu click "Actions" and select "Send an SMS message.."

Probably not, unless you leave yourself logged in to GMail on a machine they have access to.





But if you didn't choose a password wisely, it may be easier to guess it than you think. Here are some rules for better passwords:





1. Never, NEVER, use the name of someone important to you. This includes pets.


2. Make the password at least six characters long.


3. Don't use a word, or at least, not one in a standard English dictionary.


4. If upper case characters don't match lower case one in the password, mix in a few upper case characters among the lower.


5. Put in at least one digit, in a random place, not as l33t-5p34k. (If you don鈥檛 know what that means, don鈥檛 worry. You鈥檙e not going to do it.)


6. If the passwords support non-alphabetical and non-numerical characters, such as #%!, put one of those in.

Yes, you can download your mails into outlook and you can send/receive mails there but first you have to allow pop3 and mailforwarding in your gmail account under settings option and mailforwarding (tab)

Save it to where you can easily find it, like the desktop.

First it may have to do with ip that you are connecting it from , since you are at work the ip that gets to gmail or google or yahoo or whatever will be depend on the place where you work network connects from , for instance if you live Puerto rico then the theme , backround and others will appear in certain way . Now it could also be that you are either login with your personal account and have some themes and the one from home you have not

It could be that they have decorated the page as they often do and when you check at home they have removed it.


You can, however, set the homepage to a theme of your choice. You do this by clicking on iGoogle and switch back by clicking 'classic home'.


You cannot change the classic home page though. They do that, on occasions, hence the themes. If you look you will see that they are connected to whatever the date is.

I've looked in the settings in the gmail account and i do not see something that is checked or whatever to send copies of emails that i've sent out. the mail is going through but it keeps sending me a copy. it's kind of annoying. any help??

Go through your settings and look for something like "CC self". Or you might even want to block your own email =p

It IS possible, quite easily, actually, especially for an IT guy. But unless you give him reason to suspect you logged on, I doubt he will check it. Good luck.
Reply:He would have to look very closely for the information, if he was able to get it at all. But the real question is: why were you looking into his email account? Is there trust issues there? If so I encourage you to talk to him about the problem, because if you handle any problems now you could save yourself a lot of heartache later on in life.
