I have tried and tried to set just the forwarding function in gmail's settings page, however it never forwards the emails from one gmail account to another. WHATS UP!!! Any help is much appreciated.

I was having difficulty with this too. I had used @gmail.com in the forwarding address instead of @googlemail.com (it seems it works for sending mails but not forwarding) It works now!
