I don't have a GMail Id, and don't want to open one. But I belong to a goodle Egroup. they as me to open a google account to belong to the Egroup and to post mails

Google has many services like gmail for mailing,orkut to keep in contact wit friends,google videos..Totally called as google account.

Your ID would most probably be Worldsaviour777.
ID' s save time that's when you log into google you can avoid the '@gmail.com' part.
Id is also used to identify you by google.
