Using a Gmail email account, is there any way to keep folders of emails? ?

I need to keep more organized and I have this option in hotmail, is this an option in gmail?

Hi....

We can't create folder in gmail like yahoo.. but You can simply use the labels as you would folders. The labels are more versatile, but if you want to use them like folders you can,

In gmail the name of FOLDER called Lable .first you go setting (right upper side) and you see option like account filter lable and then you click on lable and create lable.in newer version of gmail you see in left side below of inbox sent item draft and below you see create lable.and you create lable and move emails there and enjoy.

They will be listed on the left side of the screen the same way.

Thanks %26amp; regards

Reply:The reason why labels are much better than folders is this.

You can attach multiple labels to one email. Instead of copying one email into multiple folders which saves space.

You can keep emails in your "inbox" that have been labeled. Meaning You can still see the email in your inbox but if you want to quickly get to all email with that label just click on it.

Have you ever remembered getting an email from someone but could not find it in the folder you thought you put it in? Labels are the answer.

Get good at using labels and folders will seem cumbersome.
Reply:It is not an option to have folders in gmail. Instead, they use labels.

You can, however, use a 3rd party mail client such as Outlook Express (Windows Mail on Vista) or Thunderbird from Mozilla (free) to connect to gmail and that way you can organize your email(s) in folders.
